Your email was perfect timing for me.
I originally had a 4 year goal for my business and I'm close to achieving it in the first year, however, I realise that my original goal wasn't big enough and I need to do more to really get where I want to be.
I was mulling this over last night and then I got your email this morning - thank you so much.
When I read the first part of your email about siting in front of computers all day, looking at stats and browsing the web, etc you described me to a T. I could haven written it myself.
The first thing I need to do is add products. It's something I don't like doing and I have a mountain of stock sitting here and I continue to buy more before I've added the last lot. Hard to sell things if they're not even added to my store!! I think the "No Excuses" is something I need to add to my life although I already feel the resistance.
I look forward to reading about your progress and thanks again.

Hi Alison,
I was planning to start a HypnoBirthing business with a friend and she has pulled out. I find it difficult to work on my own but am eager to get this business going this year. Near the end of last year I did do a goal planner for this year and now that my friend has pulled out it feels a little bit daunting to do it myself.
I do love on line information and tips but I work much better when I'm working beside someone. My enquiry is, "do you have contact with people who work with small business owners personally to help them get their businesses up and running?"
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi all

It's great to have you all on board. Being in business for ourselves we often forgot that others are going through the same things. So congratulations to all of you (and to myself) for taking this first step to make 2011 a better year.

Patricia - I know exactly where you are coming from and it can be tough but taking one day at a time is the best approach. I am glad you like the 'No Excuses' slogan - I have just put on my office wall today the slogan 'No Excuses, No Ifs or Buts...Just Get On With It' and each day and going to say it to myself. it might help you.

Kylie - It's great that you have found your avenue. If you want to email me what you are planning I will definitely have a look and see if can help. I also might be able to give you some ideas.

Helen - In February I will have available resources that will help you as a local business. There is definitely loads you can do as a local business. I will also be going through how to use Facebook pages as a business tool which I know a lot of people struggle with and so did I until last year.

Rhonda - I am pleased to hear that you are going to make it happen in 2011. Congratulations on the weight loss already, keep it up. You are right it doesn't have to cost anything to learn except time. Another good book if you can get it is E-Myth revisited, I read it recently after having it for years and would highly recommend for business owners.

The goal and gap analysis stuff will be available next week which should really help you. Also this month I will be giving you a way to make some easy money which I have used very successfully in the past. And there will be plenty more as well.

I look forward to seeing some great things happen in 2011.

Hi Alison,
I too have decided to make this a more productive year, if I was true to myself I would admit I have fallen into the trap of "Letting it Happen" instead of "making it Happen" I guess you might say a little bit of the victim mentality. This year I have decided to concentrate of two areas of my life, firstly my weight, that I have been making excuses for a long time, I am 49 years old, approaching that time of life and using that as an excuse not to lose weight. What I have started is eating a total balanced diet, all of the five food groups, in the right portions, everyday. This has resulted in a loss of 2 kilos so far, what I have found is that I do really eat well, I just eat too much of the good foods, this could work for others. My second mission is Financial, I have decided to educate myself in Finance so that my decisions are informed decisions and I then have a choice of what I do with my money. I am doing this by reading, borrowed books from the library to save money "before I would have purchased them" Just read Rich Dad Poor Dad, now moving onto A Girl Needs Cash, by Joan Perry. It really does not have to cost anything to learn, except the time you commit to do this, I will keep everyone informed with what I am learning and my weight loss success. Rhonda

Hi Alison,
A very timely email for me personally. Have just been setting the minimum targets for my personal earnings this year. Will be looking forward to your tips . I am on facebook and twitter but not really sure how to use them as business tools.
I am a music therapist in private practice and have certain limitations on advertising.
What do I want to do for this year? Expand my practice - Have successful groups running and employ others to run the sessions. Maintain my current client base and nurture them. Enter into more study and write an article for a journal. This is a repeat of the past few years - so I really want to ensure I do them!
Thanks for being around to inspire and prompt. It's true, we can't do it all on our own. And that girls, is true of the juggle. I had the same question about 20 years ago! The truth is that children grow up very quickly and it is so important to enjoy them. We are adults for a long time.

Hi Alison, congratulations on your announcements....very brave of you indeed! I wish you all he very best of success and look forward to following your progress.
I too am at a crossroads and have been working diligently to help small business people with DIY tools and resources. One of my goals is to develop more JV relationships with people who also provide help to small business - for a win/win outcome.
As you mentioned in your blog, you too will be providing more resources and information for small business people in the future and I was hoping you might be interested and open to sharing this common goal with me?
Your thoughts are always welcome and I would be grateful to hear from you when time permits.
Warmest regards

In 2011 I am focusing on Financial Improvement.
I am a single mother of 2 daughters (my eldest son died of a heart condition and my second eldest daughter comitted suicide, my 3rd child, a son is 21 and now out on his own) I am recovering from alot of tragedy and going through a divorce.
As each day goes by I am getting stronger and I have placed a post it note on my mirror with my goal '2011 goal: FOCUS ON FINANCIAL IMPROVEMENT'. This is so each morning while getting up and ready I look at my goal. I would also like to join a women in business group that also meets monthly to stay motivated.
I also like the 'NO EXCUSES' slogan and think I will pop that somewhere to.
I will definately follow your lead and hope we grow and develop our businesses successfully, reaching our 2011 goals!
Sincerely Patricia
